Getting Into Holiday Mode at Fire Station No. 6

Fire Station No. 6 was the scene of a festive event Axiom opened its doors to clients, vendors and friends during its Holiday Party & Open House on Dec. 6.

A few months before the event, Preservation Houston selected Fire Station No. 6 for a 2013 Good Brick Award, which gave many first-time visitors something to look forward to as they entered the historic building located at 1702 Washington Ave.

There were a number of cool activities going on once the sun went down, including dance performances by Hope Stone Inc. and rides down Washington Avenue in a 1928 American LaFrance fire truck. Live music was provided by The Luxury Trio, a Houston-based jazz band.  Axiom President Tom Hair greeted approximately 175 guests who arrived at the event.

Inside the station, attendees encountered enlarged 1920s images of HFD firefighters on the walls, plus artifacts found on the premises and from the Houston Fire Museum.

Photographers from Catch The Moment captured snapshots of guests and transposing their images on various digital backgrounds. Current Houston firefighters also posed with guests for photo ops, as did Santa Claus, who worked the room (and rang the fire truck bell) throughout the evening.
