Restoration: Graced By Green Thumbs

The finishing touches to the historic Fire Station No. 6 restoration are in the home stretch as a variety of plants have been placed about the property earlier this month.

Fire Station No. 6, located at 1702 Washington Ave. in Houston, will be the new home for Axiom’s offices by the end of the month. (The current HFD No. 6 is located at on 3402 Washington, a few blocks west of the old location.)

The plants arrived at the original FS6 parking lot on Feb 2. A landscaping crew of about 15 workers promptly got their hands dirty in placing plants tween along the curb and front sidewalk, and alongside the building. The crew worked briskly under cloudy skies (and cooler temperatures) that have loomed over the Houston area for much of this month.

Two weeks earlier, on Jan. 19, the Axiom logo was placed atop the addition to the original building, which already has workstations (and a two-story fire pole) in place. The new plants add a bit of nature to the historic scenery.

Axiom’s exodus from 1210 West Clay St. to its new Washington Avenue digs is expected to be completed by the end of February.
