Restoration: August & September 2011

The very hot, dry months of August & September provided plenty of sunshine to make progress on Fire Station 6, primarily on the new building addition.

Work consisted primarily of the following:

Exterior

  • Finishing structural framing, applying plywood exterior walls and Tyvek wrap
  • Installing roofing materials to the new building
  • Setting the air conditioner compressors on the roof
  • installing custom windows that match existing building
  • conducting test to match brick and mortar to existing buidling
  • Plaster coating material to the new building

Interior

  • Finish framing
  • Complete all electrical, and plumbing installation
  • Complete all air conditioning duct installation
  • Complete drywall and insulation work

Everything went as planned with the exception of the windows. Some of the windows (four payne windows with transoms) were constructed to the wrong size. Also, placement of the arched windows on the South and East side of new addition were called into question. You can find more information on windows in the next post.
