Stories: First Tee Shirt
First Tee Shirt Goes to Kid Triathlete.
Sixth generation Houstonian Will Collier is fittingly the first buyer of a Fire Station No. 6 commemorative tee shirt benefitting the Houston Fire Museum. His selection, “Rough and Ready,” because it was more “cool.”
An incoming 6th grader at T. H. Rogers Middle School, eleven year old Will is not a stranger to being rough and ready. According to his mother, Marci Collier, Will decided at the beginning of the summer that he wanted to run a couple of kid triathlons. Although his participation on a neighborhood swim team had made him fit, he did NO training prior to his first competition at the Aggieland Kid Triathlon on June 1, before the real heat set in.
Will also entered the Texas Kids Triathlon and Kiwanis Kids Triathlon, both in Houston. He achieved his goal in all three races – he finished.
For Will’s age group, the competitions included a 100 meter swim, 2 mile bike and ½ mile run.
