Axiom: About Tom Hair

A third-generation Houstonian, Tom Hair was familiar with the Washington Avenue area even before he bought Fire Station No. 6. His great-grandparents arrived in the United States in the early 1900s from Italy and settled in the Houston area. Growing up, Tom had several Italian aunts, uncles, and other relatives who lived and ran family businesses around the Washington Avenue/Westcott Circle area. He celebrated many a Christmas Eve in the home of his Aunt Katie and Uncle Sam, where family enjoyed an assortment of Italian food served buffet-style, including Italian sausage made at his uncle’s meat market.

Pursuing a lifelong love of art and design, Tom launched a career in strategic marketing and corporate communications. He has since grown Axiom, now in its 13th year, into one of the premier creative agencies in the Southwest United States. He studied graphic design, earning a Bachelor of Arts from Texas Tech University, and pursued further studies at such places as the School of Visual Arts in New York and the Glassell School of Art here in Houston.

While staying very busy running Axiom and spending time with his wife, Molly, Tom still finds time to serve as a board member for the Art League of Houston and Hope Stone, Inc.
